Job Description:

The Research Director position at Alter Agents requires a dynamic, talented person who enjoys developing client relationships, exceptional client servicing,  innovative thinking, and creating compelling, strategic insights from data. It is a senior position with management responsibilities that reports and will be a critical partner to our Chief Research Officer. Our directors provide input to senior leadership to help shape the future of the organization.

The Director has a responsibility to participate in the proposal process, work closely with the executive team to design and conduct research projects,  manage and mentor their direct reports, write thoughtful, story-driven and compelling research results, present results to our clients, own and manage account plans for their clients, and strategize with leadership on company growth and direction.

You are naturally curious, with a love for going beyond the obvious and the mental agility to look for the best solutions from multiple perspectives. You are comfortable developing insights to influence solutions, pulling together crisp narratives that inspire action.
  • You are a strategic thinker who can translate findings into strategic learnings and recommendations for clients.
  • You are deeply experienced in the full process of conducting and analyzing quantitative research.
  • You have a passion for consumer behaviors and immerse yourself in category and cultural trends.
  • You are a quick thinker who can anticipate client needs and questions, and are comfortable answering these on the fly.
  • You are comfortable presenting insights to large and/or influential client groups. You nurture client relationships with an aim to retain and grow client business.
  • You are an awesome organizer with exceptional attention to detail. You are proactive and forward-thinking with a high level of project and team management skills, with the ability to autonomously problem-solve logistical project issues with support staff and vendors.
  • You have a thirst for understanding how consumers interact with brands today, the role brands play in people’s lives and the ability to translate this into action.
  • You fully understand the project management needs within the research process – from questionnaire development to analysis.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative, team-first environment.
  • You are skilled at multitasking and balancing multiple projects and priorities.
  • You are inventive, resourceful, and willing to learn new techniques.
  • You have a desire to continually challenge yourself and aspire to exceed client expectations.
  • You have a proven ability to manage teams remotely as our office is now fully virtual with staff across multiple time zones.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 12 years of supplier side market research experience using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Must have experience designing and implementing different quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Must be expert and facile with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Has experience identifying themes and trends to drive actionable recommendations from a combination of first, second and third party sources.
  • Is self-motivated, well-organized, and a detail-oriented go-getter who can work independently on client servicing, quality control, and project execution.
  • Can manage, mentor and train support staff in accordance with company values and policies.
  • Must have very high client service and quality control standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the desire to collaborate with the leadership team to drive business growth and refine and evolve our strategy.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to craft insightful, story-driven reports and POVs from data analysis. Can guide support members on writing and story development.
  • Has demonstrated capabilities in managing over $1mm in revenue across multiple clients and being responsible for client retention, relationship development and growth.
  • Has full knowledge of the Microsoft and Google suite of productivity tools (Excel, Sheets, PowerPoint, Slides, etc.) and can easily navigate different data sets – from Excel tabs to SPSS to online data portals.

Salary Range:

$150,000 - $190,000 annual salary
